Where and when: we meet you at 9am at Telephone Box Junction, Mt Stirling. This is located on The Mt Stirling road and takes approximately 45 minutes from Mansfield. Please note the Mt Stirling road is a dirt road.

How long do we spend in the saddle?: The ride is approximately 6 hours in the saddle and we stop for lunch at Craig’s Hut for an hour.

Is the ride suitable for beginners?: Yes we can cater for beginner riders, however the ride is fairly challenging, we are often riding along narrow mountain tracks and going up and down hills. We would recommend horse riding lessons for beginner riders before joining the ride to get the most enjoyment from your experience.

Weight restriction: 95kg

What is included: We provide helmets, boots, drizabones and lunch for the day (we just need to know of any dietary requirements)

Swamps look about trek of the North East Victoria! (4 nights & 4 days)

For those who have ridden with Swamp over the years, he needs no introduction. Russell “Swamp” Ellis has helped on our treks since 2010 when we began our rides in Tolmie. Swamp loves nothing better that heading out on the trail, strumming the guitar around the campfire and having a yarn!

Our adventure will begin at Steve and Heidi Crowes Auldstone Farm property which is in the heart of the North East wine region, just outside Glenrowan, the home of Ned Kelly. Steve Crowe has a reputation for his performance horse training and kind approach to teaching horsemanship. Here we will spend 2 nights and a full days riding enjoying some personalised horsemanship and riding out amongst the base of the Warby Range and local wineries. Of a night, we will enjoy local produce and wines along with gourmet style meals around the open fire.

On Friday, we will pack up camp at Auldstone farm and ride out across the beautiful farmlands around Taminick. Today we will us out onto the beautiful and scenic Winton Wetlands where Swamp has his cattle run near ‘Billy Fridays Swamp’. Winton Wetlands is known as the largest wetland restoration project in the southern hemisphere attracting an abundance of wildlife. Out on the wetlands we will help check stock and do cattle work. Tonights camp gives you the opportunity to soak up the natural beauty and enjoy some music around the fire for our final night. On arrival to the Ellis family property Swamp will give you a horseback guided tour of the farm, including meeting his homebred mountain horses that once old enough join our trekking team. Heading through the Mokoan Range, Swamps family property ‘Pentown’ a sheep, cattle and cropping farm is nestled in the back hills of Chesney Vale.

Your North East Victoria adventure will come to an end after one last morning in the saddle and a hearty lunch on Sunday.

Our Wonnangatta back country ride takes in the Howqua River, The Bluff, King Billy, Mt Magdala, Howitt High Plains and the Wonnangatta Valley for 2 nights. The Wonnangatta Valley is a remote and rugged part of the Alpine National Park. The scenery is spectacular, and the wildflowers are in an abundance. Wonnangatta Station was originally founded by a gold prospector passing through the area and later became a cattle grazing lease which was held by the Bryce family in the 1800s and was the site of an unsolved murder mystery. Today mystery remains around the valley.

Riding level: Experienced

Level of difficulty: Medium to High (steep and some challenging terrain)

Fitness level: reasonable level of fitness required for this ride

The Howqua River is an iconic High Country river which is fed by the surrounding mountain ranges. Follow the footprints of generations of mountain cattlemen and horsemen who have ridden through this spectacular river system. We stay 2 nights at the historical Seeforth Station Homestead set amongst the rolling hills, here we have warm cosy beds, flushing toilets and hot showers for the 2 night at Seeforth Station.

To confirm your ride we ask for a $300pp deposit with full payment 6 weeks prior to the ride.

Swamps 10 year look about trek of the North East Victoria! cancelled

For those who have ridden with Swamp over the years, he needs no introduction. Russell “Swamp” Ellis has helped on our treks since 2010 when we began our rides in Tolmie. Swamp loves nothing better that heading out on the trail, strumming the guitar around the campfire and having a yarn!

To celebrate Swamps 10 years of “long service”, we have put together a trek that takes you into the beautiful North East Victoria where Swamp was born and raised and ride his farming country.

Our adventure will begin at Steve and Heidi Crowes Auldstone Farm property which is in the heart of the North East wine region, just outside Glenrowan, the home of Ned Kelly. Steve Crowe has a reputation for his performance horse training and kind approach to teaching horsemanship. Here we will spend 2 days enjoying some personalised horsemanship and riding out amongst the base of the Warby Range and local wineries. Of a night, we will enjoy local produce and wines along with gourmet style meals around the open fire.

On Friday, we will pack up camp at Auldstone farm and ride out across the beautiful farmlands around Taminick. Heading through the Mokoan Range, Swamps family property ‘Pentown’ a sheep, cattle and cropping farm is nestled in the back hills of Chesney Vale.

On arrival to the Ellis family property Swamp will give you a horseback guided tour of the farm, including meeting his homebred mountain horses that once old enough join our trekking team.

Saturday will take us out onto the beautiful and scenic Winton Wetlands where Swamp has his cattle run near ‘Billy Fridays Swamp’. Winton Wetlands is known as the largest wetland restoration project in the southern hemisphere attracting an abundance of wildlife. Out on the wetlands we will help check stock and do cattle work. Tonights camp gives you the opportunity to soak up the natural beauty and enjoy some music around the fire for our final night.

Your North East Victoria adventure will come to an end after one last morning in the saddle and a hearty lunch on Sunday.

Together with Steve and Heidi Crowe, we welcome you to their picturesque property, Auldstone Farm which is tucked alongside the Warby Mountian Range and surrounded by wineries and vineyards, both Auldstone farm and Booth winery date back to the 1800s.

Your weekend escape will include personalised group horsemanship clinics guided by Steve Crowe. Steve has dedicated his life to develop better working partnership with horses through learning to communicate with them using their natural instincts. Steve’s easygoing approach with horses and people will help improve your riding connection with your horse.

Each afternoon we will head out for a scenic trail riding amongst the vineyards, farmlands and bush followed by a visit to Booths winery and Black Dog Brewery as well as the scenic Bailey’s winery. Of an evening you can sit back and enjoy our signature bush style gourmet meals enjoying local wines and produce.

Full day Craig’s Hut and High Country ride

Take in the magnificent mountain tracks of Mt Stirling. Ride a sturdy mountain horse and take in the amazing distant views made famous by The Man from Snowy River films.

Where and when: we meet you at 9am at Telephone Box Junction, Mt Stirling. This is located on The Mt Stirling road and takes approximately 45 minutes from Mansfield. Please note the Mt Stirling road is a dirt road.

How long do we spend in the saddle?: The ride is approximately 6 hours in the saddle and we stop for lunch at Craig’s Hut for an hour.

Is the ride suitable for beginners?: Yes we can cater for beginner riders, however the ride is fairly challenging, we are often riding along narrow mountain tracks and going up and down hills. We would recommend horse riding lessons for beginner riders before joining the ride to get the most enjoyment from your experience.

Weight restriction: 95kg

What is included: We provide helmets, boots, drizabones and lunch for the day (we just need to know of any dietary requirements)

What to bring: Warm jacket, long pants, camera, water bottle (at least 1L) and wet weather gear. For anyone who experiences medical conditions ie. Asthma, please be prepared with your own medication.

Cost: $320 per person (lunch included) full payment is required 2 weeks prior to the ride.

Our 4 day Horse trek in December takes into the Heart of the High Country, both mountains and the crystal clear trout filled river streams.  Ride over Mt Stirling to Craig's Hut (Made famous by The Man from Snowy River films) and adventure down into the King valley and onto the King River before travelling over Mt No. 3 that looks back into the Mansfield Valley. You will see some spectacular High Country views as you ride one of our sturdy, mountain horses.

Our Mt Stirling 1/2 day ride is a great way to take in the best of the High Country in a short morning ride. Take in some amazing mountain views, ride amongst the snow gums and wildflowers and stop for morning tea at one of the mountain huts.

$260 per person (includes morning tea)

hours in the saddle: Approx. 3.5-4hrs (with a break in the middle)

What to wear: long pants and bring a warm jumper

Full day ride to Craig's Hut

Our full day Craig’s Hut ride will take you over the spectacular Mt Stirling, riding through Snow Gums and soft mountain trails. We stop for lunch at the iconic Craig’s Hut before riding back via Salt Lick Hut and King Saddle.

Approx 6hrs in the saddle

Dificulty of ride: This is a mountain ride, therefore some tracks have a degree of dificulty and some riding experience is recommended.

Min age: 12yrs of age for beginner riders

Cost: $325pp and this includes lunch.
