Horse Riding is a Risk Sport

We take care to breed, train and provide suitable and safe horses for our customers, but all animals can be unpredictable.

Deposit details;
Daily treks we require a $200 per person deposit and full payment 2 weeks prior to the ride
2-4 day treks we require a $500 per person deposit and full payment 6 weeks prior to the ride.
For treks over 4 days, we require a $2,000 per person deposit and full payment 6 weeks prior to the ride.

Travel Insurance

It is a requirement on our treks that you take out travel insurance when your final payment is made. In most cases you should only expect to pay between $10-$30 per day for travel insurance. By not taking out travel insurance, you accept that Hidden Trails by Horseback Pty Ltd is unable to refund your ride.

Along with the obvious benefits, travel insurance will cover;
* Amendment and cancellation costs 
* Car rental excess 
* Travel delay expenses
* Missed connections on flights 
* Natural disaster cover
* Riders directly impacted by Covid-19

With the remoteness of the High Country and despite having Medicare or Private Health insurance, taking out a travel insurance policy will cover for personal liability, disability and loss of income in the unlikely event where serious injury occurs.

We can recommend https://www.covermore.com.au as an optional online travel insurance provider, alternately talk to your local travel agency for options.

Terms & Conditions

* Minimum 12 years of age for riders. Any riders under 18, are required to have riding experience and joined by a parent or guardian.

* Weight restriction of 95kg. Please contact us if you are close to our weight restriction, as we are limited with our heavy horse availability.

* We do not cater for complete beginner horse riders on our scheduled treks, only on private group horsemanship experiences can we cater for beginner horse riders. It is a requirement that our riders at a minimum have had 3 lessons before joining our daily horse rides and at least 6 lessons before joining an overnight trek. For treks more that 4 days, riders need to be experienced & confident riders who can mount the horse from the ground and have an independent seat.

 * All riders must wear a helmet that is to Australian Standards, these will be provided.

 * All riders will be asked to read and sign a waiver form on arrival.

Insurance:

By booking with Hidden Trails by Horseback Pty Ltd, you accept that you are required to obtain travel insurance when riding with us.

* Ambulance Cover is a compulsory requirement when riding with us.

* Health Insurance is strongly recommended,

* Travel insurance is a requirement when booking our treks. Those who choose not to take out travel insurance accept that we are unable to refund or transfer their ride.

* The Customer understands and acknowledges that horse riding is inherently a dangerous activity and accepts that there are risks associated with horse riding including the possibility of injury, death, loss or damage.

 * The Rider understand that in the case where severe weather conditions or natural disaster, Hidden Trails by Horseback Pty Ltd have the right to change or cancel a ride. Full payment will be transferred to alternate dates.

Cancellations by you

We do not offer refunds on our horse treks.

Overnight treks:

We understand circumstances can change unavoidably therefore deposits and final payments will be transferred to alternate trip dates with no penalty if formal cancellation is made more than 6 weeks prior to the tour departure.

100% of payment will be retained and not transferred to alternate dates if cancellation is made less than 2 weeks from tour departure, or where you are unable to re fill your saddle. Please refer to our travel insurance policy.

Hidden Trails by Horseback Pty Ltd will offer one transfer of date where a booking is made and in line with the booking terms and conditions. The rider accepts that they will forfeit their payment if a second cancellation is made, the rider also accepts that the money must be used within the next calendar year. Where a rider has rebooked a trek of lesser value, the rider accepts that no money will be refunded.

Changes or cancellations by Hidden Trails by Horseback Pty Ltd

We reserve the right to change or cancel your booking when it is necessary to do so, for example, in the event of a natural disaster, pandemic or threat to human life.

We have the right to refuse a booking if we deem it unsafe for the rider, our staff or our horses. This could be due to a riders riding ability, age or weight. Please ensure correct information is provided on booking.

In the unlikely event that Hidden Trails by Horseback Pty Ltd is forced to cancel or postpone a trek due to extreme weather condition or natural disaster, no refund will be given.

If it is necessary to change or cancel your booking, we agree to:

(a) give you reasonable notice of changes and / or cancellations where it is possible to do so; and

(b) offer you a comparable alternative where one is available;

(c) a transfer of your booking to an alternative holiday. If a comparable holiday is not available, we will waive the applicable transfer and / or amendment fee. If the alternative holiday is:

(i) less expensive, you will be entitled to a refund of the difference in price; or

(ii) more expensive, you will be required to pay the difference in price within 7 days of agreeing to transfer your booking.

In exchange for the above guarantees, you agree that we are not liable or responsible if it is necessary to change or cancel your booking or any associated travel expenses due to events or circumstances beyond our control including, but not limited to, political unrest, war or threat of war, riots, civil strife, closure of airports or ports, industrial disputes, terrorist activity, natural disasters, fire, epidemic or health risks, Acts of God, adverse weather conditions and any other similar events.

Covid-19 Vaccination Cancellation Policy

The customer shall comply with all government (Federal and state) COVID vaccination or testing requirements when booking our tours.

Gift Voucher conditions

When purchasing a gift voucher, we recommend you read our terms and conditions and ensure the person being gifted is appropriate for our treks.

Please ensure that when gifting a voucher, that riders are encouraged to contact Hidden Trails by Horseback for available dates. Please be aware our treks book out months in advance.

When a gift voucher is used and a booking is made, the rider accepts the above terms and conditions of our treks.

We do not offer cash refunds for our vouchers. Where a voucher is transferred to an alternative person, please ensure they are appropriate for our rides and they read our terms and conditions.
