Swamps 10 year look about trek of the North East Victoria! cancelled

For those who have ridden with Swamp over the years, he needs no introduction. Russell “Swamp” Ellis has helped on our treks since 2010 when we began our rides in Tolmie. Swamp loves nothing better that heading out on the trail, strumming the guitar around the campfire and having a yarn!

To celebrate Swamps 10 years of “long service”, we have put together a trek that takes you into the beautiful North East Victoria where Swamp was born and raised and ride his farming country.

Our adventure will begin at Steve and Heidi Crowes Auldstone Farm property which is in the heart of the North East wine region, just outside Glenrowan, the home of Ned Kelly. Steve Crowe has a reputation for his performance horse training and kind approach to teaching horsemanship. Here we will spend 2 days enjoying some personalised horsemanship and riding out amongst the base of the Warby Range and local wineries. Of a night, we will enjoy local produce and wines along with gourmet style meals around the open fire.

On Friday, we will pack up camp at Auldstone farm and ride out across the beautiful farmlands around Taminick. Heading through the Mokoan Range, Swamps family property ‘Pentown’ a sheep, cattle and cropping farm is nestled in the back hills of Chesney Vale.

On arrival to the Ellis family property Swamp will give you a horseback guided tour of the farm, including meeting his homebred mountain horses that once old enough join our trekking team.

Saturday will take us out onto the beautiful and scenic Winton Wetlands where Swamp has his cattle run near ‘Billy Fridays Swamp’. Winton Wetlands is known as the largest wetland restoration project in the southern hemisphere attracting an abundance of wildlife. Out on the wetlands we will help check stock and do cattle work. Tonights camp gives you the opportunity to soak up the natural beauty and enjoy some music around the fire for our final night.

Your North East Victoria adventure will come to an end after one last morning in the saddle and a hearty lunch on Sunday.
