2 to 4 day Craig’s Hut and the High Country

Climb through the mountains Following original bush tracks taking in iconic High Country landmarks such as Craig’s Hut and Mt Stirling, these 2 locations were featured in 'The Man from Snowy River films'. Enjoy the views into the Mansfield Valley and King Valley from the steep mountain tracks of Mt no. 3. Of an evening enjoy Hidden Trail’s renowned bush cooking and entertainment around the campfire


2 Day Howqua River Ride -A ride for the Adventurous!

Escape for the weekend and spend 2 fun days riding through the Sub Alpine Howqua Hills. Visiting cattlemen’s Huts set on the river bank, cantering though trout filled streams and having fun around the campfire at night. Sleep out under the stars or in one of the rustic bunk rooms and enjoy some of our well renowned bush cooking.  Catering for Beginner to Experienced riders

 


7 Day Craig’s Hut and the High Country snowy river ride

Follow the footprints of our iconic Man from Snowy River film locations. Starting on the trout filled rivers we take to the mountains for a scenic and adventurous ride through the snow gums and wild flowers with distant mountain views. Visit those special mountain and cliff scene locations that only the very lucky have been able to visit including Mt Magdala, the Bluff, Lovicks Hut, Mt Stirling and of course Craig’s Hut.

This is the best way to see our unique High Country with incredible photo opportunities. At the end of the day sit back and enjoy some of our renowned bush cooking with a drink in hand around the fire.

Annual Horsemanship and High Country ride 

6 day 6 night High Country horsemanship and stock work ride.

On arrival you will drive through the gates passing the old Cattle yards and past the horses into Stock Yard creek homestead. Here you will be staying for 3 nights in the quaint and cosy accommodation. for the next 2 days you will have local high country horsemen Daryl Crowe working with you and your horses. Daryl has been conducting horsemanship clinics for over 20 years traveling to anywhere there has been a group of people wanting to further their knowledge, skills and capabilities with their horsemanship in general “Horsemanship to me is anything that involves a person either around or on their horse, looking like they have some sort of mutual agreement or understanding as opposed to it looking like a wrestling match“. Daryl will be on hand both in a clinic style environment and also out on the trail and during our stock work.

on the 3rd day of riding we pack up, ride up the Howqua River stopping at Ritchies Hut for lunch, a remote hut on the riverbank before arriving into Pikes Flat to camp the night. On our 4th 5th and 6th day you will be on the mountain tops around the spectacular Mt Stirling and visiting the iconic Craig's Hut before riding back down the Delatite River on the final day.

Horseback Photography workshop

Ewen Bell is an award winning travel photography specialist. He loves animals, especially slow moving ones that don't run away from the camera.

These are wonderful experiences designed to help you build skills and knowledge very quickly. They're also a lot of fun an open to any skill level both photography and horse riding!

The focal point of the trip will be the horses, the environment and the bush cooking. The horse riding is a major part of the journey; to get us from location to location and into areas where only accessible by foot.

Horse ride, Massage, Yoga and gourmet bush cooking...

This is a great way to experience the bush and get in touch with nature. Relax, de stress and enjoy a weekend away from the rat race. The horse ride will depart from the Dungeon Valley and cross the ranges riding in across the trout filled river to the 'Hideout', a magnificent park like property on the banks of the Howqua River. Finish your ride with a soothing massage and a gourmet cheese platter and champagne followed by a bush style gourmet dinner under the tree house. 

Wake to the sounds of the river, birds and breeze flowing through the maple trees. Breakfast will be followed by a relaxing yoga session. A light lunch and a short horse ride back to the Dungeon will top off the weekend.
